Vermont Dept. of Tourism and Marketing to Host Vermont Ambassador Training Workshops: Nov. 12

The Vermont Department of Tourism & Marketing has announced that registration is now open for Vermont Ambassador Training Workshops on November 12, 2013 at locations in Montpelier, Rutland and Bennington. These free workshops are open to employees of all Vermont businesses and organizations.

In its seventh year, the Vermont Ambassador Program operates with two goals: to provide visitors with readily available travel information throughout the state, and to provide businesses with the know-how and resources to help provide quality customer service. Workshop attendees learn about statewide tourism opportunities from experts representing arts, history, culinary, farm, recreation, and lodging sectors. Businesses with staff who complete Ambassador Training can become a designated Vermont Ambassador Info Center promoted by the Vermont Department of Tourism & Marketing.

The training workshops are set up as a video-conferences with facilitators and speakers at each of the three locations. All locations are connected live on camera.

“The ambassador training is a perfect opportunity to learn what’s new, what’s popular and how to stay up-to-date,” Tourism and Marketing Commissioner Megan Smith said. “Customer service is the most important ingredient for any business, and especially those in the hospitality industry. This program offers valuable resources and information.”

Speakers include some of the best in Vermont's hospitality industry. A variety of organizations will be represented, including Vermont Chamber of Commerce, Vermont Welcome Centers, Ski Vermont, Vermont Arts Council, and the Vermont Departments of Agriculture, Fish & Wildlife, Historic Sites, State Parks, and Tourism & Marketing. Guests from the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce, Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce, and Southern Vermont Arts & Living will also share travel highlights from their regions.

The workshops run from noon to 4 p.m. in Vermont Interactive Technologies studios:

• Vermont Department of Labor, 5 Green Mountain Drive, Montpelier

• Stafford Technical Center, 8 Stratton Road Room 108, Rutland

• Senior Citizen's Service Center, 124 Pleasant Street, Bennington
