Public Meeting on October 9 to Discuss Management of Remote Campsites on Waterbury Reservoir

If you frequent Waterbury Reservoir, you are likely familiar with the 'unofficial' remote campsites located along the shoreline (not Little River State Park Campground). The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation (FPR) is considering ways to better manage the remote camping to enhance the experience for everyone, to ensure the safety of the public, and to better protect the shoreline resource,

A public meeting to learn about and discuss this effort is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9 from 5:30 - 9:00 pm at St. Leo's Hall in Waterbury.

FPR is interested in getting feedback on remote camping at Waterbury Reservoir from frequent users, people interested in future camping, just curious about the remote sites, or simply those who care about the reservoir.

There will be an open house from 5:30 - 7:00 pm to give attendees an opportunity to talk with FPR staff, provide comments and complete a survey. At 7:00 pm there will be a presentation about remote camping at the Reservoir and some of the current challenges. Public comment and questions will also be encouraged during this portion of the meeting.

Those that cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to learn more at and to complete an online survey at
