Secretary of State Jim Condos is pleased to announce the appointment of Will Senning as the new Director of Elections and Campaign Finance for the office of the Secretary of State. Will replaces Kathy Scheele, who is retiring at the end of this month, after more than 13 years of dedicated service to this agency and to the state of Vermont.
“Will brings with him a solid commitment to ensuring fair, accurate, and transparent elections across the state,” stated Condos.
Will is a native Vermonter, born and raised in Duxbury. He graduated from Harwood Union High School, received his B.A. from Hampshire College in Amherst MA, and received his J.D., cum laude, from Vermont Law School in 2006. Will was an associate at Darby Stearns Law Offices in Waterbury for three years following law school and joined the Elections Division team in February of 2011. For the last two years Will has worked closely with the outgoing Director, Kathy Scheele, becoming intimately familiar with the laws, processes, and responsibilities involved in the administration of our state’s elections.
Condos continues, “Will has built a strong relationship with our Town Clerks and other local election officials. He believes that the Elections Division should work as a team with Vermont’s local officials to serve their citizens as they take part in our critical and important elections process.”
“With his extensive training by our outgoing director, his own strengths, and our shared vision for the office of Elections and Campaign Finance, I am thrilled to have Will taking the helm at this time.” Condos further states, “I look forward to Will leading the Elections Division through this important period while we seek to improve the administration of Vermont’s elections in a variety of important ways.”
