Community Dinners on High School Innovation

Do you have a great idea for an engaging and innovative learning opportunity that would benefit Vermont’s students? Come, join the conversation on high school innovation and enjoy a free dinner!

The Vermont Agency of Education (VT-AOE) is hosting several community dinners for regional educators, students, business leaders and community members to come together and discuss ways to develop and promote innovative educational practices at the high school level.

Students who attended dinners at Lyndon State College and South Burlington High School had conversations about the benefits of implementing proficiency based graduation requirements in Vermont’s schools. Creating and managing small businesses, community service and capstone projects were identified as potential ways to learn while earning high school credits. Attendees also discussed how students’ social and emotional needs should be integrated into an effective learning environment.

The Community Dinners on High School Innovation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on the following dates:

• Thursday, March 14th at Castleton State College

• Thursday, March 28th at Missisquoi Valley UHS

• Thursday, April 4th at Johnson State College

• Thursday, April 11th at National Life

• Thursday, April 25th at Brattleboro Union High School
