Hubbardton, VT — Come to the Hubbardton Battlefield on Monday, October 15, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. for a special astronomy program! Members of the Green Mountain Astronomers will be on hand and will focus on the planets and other deep space objects. Bring telescopes, binoculars, blankets, and flashlights. We’ll provide the marshmallows. The Hubbardton Battlefield, with its sweeping mountain views and no modern light pollution, is the perfect spot to observe the night sky.
The program is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated. If skies are cloudy, the event will be held on October 16. Call ahead, at 802-273-2282, to confirm the program is on. The Visitor Center will open to the public at 6:00 p.m.
The battlefield is the site of the only Revolutionary War battle fought in Vermont. It is located in Hubbardton on Monument Hill Road, seven miles north of US Route 4 from Castleton or six miles east of VT Route 30 in Hubbardton. Except for this event, the Visitor Center has now closed for the season and will reopen on May 24, 2007.
