Agency of Commerce, Community National Bank Sponsor 2015 BarnPitch for Start-Up Companies

Northeast Kingdom Tamarack, Inc. (NEKTI) is pleased to announce Community National Bank (CNB) as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2015 BarnPitch, in Lowell, Vermont. BarnPitch is the sixth stop of the 2015 Road Pitch. Road Pitch sends "business bikers" on four-day motorcycle trip around Vermont where they will hold "office hours" in select towns stopping by appointment to listen to business "pitches" from start-up or early-stage companies.

"NEKTI Consulting is pleased to bring together some of the area's aspiring entrepreneurs in a way that gives them the opportunity to share their plans to enhance their business performance, create jobs and improve people's lives," said Steven L Mason, COO, NEKTI Consulting. "Additionally, this event also provides us with the opportunity to promote Vermont as an excellent motorcycle-touring destination."

Mason and his partner (in business and in life), Patricia M. Sears, also participate in the Road Pitch road trip, riding their 1985 Yamaha V-Max to other Road Pitch stops.

"This is the second year we've provided local business owners with the chance to meet with investors, successful entrepreneurs and business advisors that will listen to them pitch their business concepts with the hope of to gaining advice, and possibly investment," said Mason. "We are pleased to join sponsors of this event to help local businesses be successful."

Seven businesses will deliver their seven-minute pitch to several dozen business experts at the 2015 BarnPitch at Kingdom Commons, in Lowell.

This year, the 'Road Pitch' includes a "Riders Choice Prize." These prizes will be awarded at each of the eight scheduled stops.

"We are excited that the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development, Gallagher, Flynn & Co., and Key Bank have generously agreed to be lead sponsors for the 2015 Road Pitch" said Cairn Cross, Road Pitch Founder and co-founder of FreshTracks Capital, "and this allows us to award a cash prize of $450 and a special 'Biker Bear' contributed by Vermont Teddy Bear to the pitch of our choice at each of our stops."

Last year riders listened to 35 pitches from a wide variety of Vermont entrepreneurial companies. This year with 8 stops, the riders expect to listen to 45 pitches in total. Lt. Governor Phil Scott is expected to make welcoming remarks at the first stop in Essex Junction.

The tour starts Monday, Aug. 3 with stops at Green Mountain Harley Davidson, in Essex Junction, and Bennington College, in Bennington. Tuesday the tour swings by the Strolling of the Heifers, in Brattleboro, and the Castleton Center for Entrepreneurship, in Rutland. On Wednesday the tour heads to Vermont Technical College, in Randolph, then on up to a "barn pitch" in Lowell. Thursday morning the road pitch goes to the Charlemont Restaurant, in Morrisville, then on to Grand Isle for the final pitch session at Snow Farm Vineyard.
