The Vermont Department of Health is inviting public comment on two proposed rules. The deadline for comment is May 15, 2014.
The proposed Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT) for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) Rule would enable health care providers to prescribe medication to the partner of a patient diagnosed with chlamydia or gonorrhea. The prescription could be made without examining the partner to prevent the reinfection and spread of disease. Included with the prescription will be a letter from the health care provider that recommends that the sexual partner visit a health care professional for evaluation.
The proposed rule is available at: http://www.healthvermont.gov/admin/documents/std_expedited_partner_therapy_proposed_rule.pdf
The proposed Maternal Mortality Review Panel Rule would define procedures for gathering and reporting maternal death information. The panel reviews any death of a woman who dies during or within the first year of her pregnancy.
The proposed rule is available at: http://www.healthvermont.gov/admin/documents/maternal_mortality_review_panel_proposed_rule.pdf.
The procedure for adoption of any rule through the Secretary of State’s Office includes holding a public hearing and receiving comments.
Please send comments to AHS.VDHRules@state.vt.usmailto:AHS.VDHRules@state.vt.us.
