Secretary of State Jim Condos Brings “Got Transparency!” to Montpelier

Secretary of State Jim Condos, at the request of Montpelier’s Mayor John Hollar, will be making a presentation on Transparency in Government at the Montpelier City Hall on Wednesday, August 15th, 2012. Similar to his 12-stop “Transparency Tour” that occurred last fall in towns all across the state, Secretary Condos will be discussing both the Public Records and the Open Meeting Laws.

“When I received the call from Mayor Hollar asking me to present in Montpelier, this time in City Hall, for all municipal employees, board and committee members, I immediately said yes.,” stated Condos.

Condos furthered, “It is well known that Transparency in Government is an issue important to Vermonters across the state, and I have committed my office to continuing transparency as a priority. To date, I have made 16 presentations to municipalities all across the state, and to civic organizations, such as the League of Women Voters of Vermont, and I am more than happy to go where I am invited,” stated Condos.

The Montpelier presentation will take place in the City Council Chamber at 5 pm, with members of the city council, school board, planning commission, DRB, and the public invited to attend.

The Secretary of State’s office receives many inquiries from municipal officials and from the general public, particularly about the Open Meetings law. We disseminate this important information in many different formats, including in person meetings, email responses, and postings on our website.

Jim Condos is Vermont’s Secretary of State.
